Musicalive!

One of the driving ideas behind the Dallas Festival of Modern Music is the idea that great music is for everyone. To that end, we are extremely proud of our public school outreach program, Musicalive! This program gets world class artists in to the classroom where they can share their talents and inspiration with the next generation of music lovers. But this isn't just your typical show and tell... Musicalive! programs engage and challenge students to explore, create, and think about music in ways that are entirely new for them.

In 2009 and 2010, over 4,000 students were reached through dozens of age appropriate school events. Fourth grade students explored music composition using found sounds, while middle and high school instrumental and vocal students refined their technique in small group or one-on-one master classes. Best of all, 2011 promises to be an even greater year. Festival artists, coming in to Dallas from across the state and country, will reach even more students through their novel and innovate approaches. The Dallas Festival of Modern Music is here to serve our community, and that starts in the classroom.
